A low-lift way to manage election anxiety
🍕 Today’s tip: Make a meal plan for election week.
Do you know what you’re eating for dinner on Wednesday? Yes, that’s still four days away — and yes, you should figure it out now anyway. As Ashley Abramson explains, the best way to emotionally prepare for a potential worst-case election scenario is to make a low-stakes action plan for the immediate aftermath. It’s a way to claim agency over some small sliver of life, even if everything else is scary.
Writes Abramson: “Right now, today, is the time to account for all the small, boring things that keep your life running: your showers, your grocery lists, bill deadlines, things that need to be mailed and appointments to be made.” Do those things before Election Day, and no matter what happens, your future self will be grateful.
