A foolproof way to beat distraction

📝 Today’s tip: Keep a sticky note on your desktop to remind yourself of your priorities.

It’s easy to get distracted when you have 8,000 tabs open and several programs running at the same time — a state of digital chaos that’s all too common when work, personal life, school, and everything else are all happening virtually.

A solution, from the writer Julian Shapiro: Put your top priorities for the day (and, you know, your life) on a sticky note on your desktop, or a physical post-it note on your physical desk. Use the space to remind yourself of your needs and guiding principles. One line on Shapiro’s, for example, reads, “Decide what has to happen today to maximize fulfillment by the day’s end — not by the hour.” Whatever you put on yours, let it be the signal that cuts through the noise of the day.
