Look before you leap
🔍 Today’s tip: Before joining a campaign, vet it.
“Blackout Tuesday” swept social media feeds earlier this week, and quickly became a flashpoint as some called it performative at best, and possibly actively harmful. To ensure you’re putting your energy to good use, do what the organizer and activist Leslie Mac calls a “digital action interrogation.”
In an Instagram post, Mac recommends asking yourself three questions to identify the truly helpful initiatives amid all the online noise:
1. Who is the source?
2. What is the intent?
3. What is the impact?
It’s an exercise that works for offline activism, too.
