🙅 Today’s tip: Remember what is, and isn’t, within your power.

Your dad is insisting he doesn’t need to wear a mask. Your friend won’t stop flooding the group chat with doomsday headlines. Especially in times of stress, it’s easy to dwell on all the things you wish other people were doing differently.

It can be both comforting and empowering to realize, as the writer Ashley Ford recently tweeted, “no matter how many people I feel responsible for, I am only in charge of myself.”

Yes, we should all take care of each other as best we can. But the most effective way to spend your mental energy is to channel it into the things you can control.
