A trick for finding clarity

🔮 Today’s tip: When a challenge feels overwhelming, create a “success fantasy.”

Kelly Corrigan shared a powerful suggestion on Forge recently: “Sometimes, when I feel outmatched by the thing in front of me, I do a little mental exercise: I pretend I’m on the other side and tell the story of what happened as if I’d nailed it,” she explained.

It’s a trick that works for individual goals, but it can be useful for large-scale and societal challenges, too: Picture, in detail, the best version of the story you could someday tell about this time. A moment of imagination can also be a moment of clarity, pointing you to where you want things to go from here, and spurring you to action.
