📨 Today’s tip: Follow every important conversation with an email that sums it up.

Team Zoom meeting to figure out who’s tackling which part of the project? Put it in an email. Call with a client to nail down deadlines? Email. One day, we’ll have conversations in person again, too — and when that day comes, you should leave your conversation and go dump the contents into a short email. As the writer and actress Franchesca Ramsey recently tweeted: “Remember, a paper trail is your friend.”

Ramsey also offered a template for keeping your emails both breezy and clear: “So great chatting with you this afternoon! As per our call XYZ…” By sharing a written record of everyone’s responsibilities and expectations, you’re protecting both yourself and your relationship with the person on the receiving end.
