“We don’t quit things because they’re hard, we quit things because they’re wrong. We quit to make room for better.”
In a letter to her daughters, Kelly Corrigan offers guidance on how to decide what to let go of in life. Some things they’re allowed to quit: trying to make their hair go in directions it won’t, jobs that can’t be made to work, marriages. Corrigan’s advice goes against the mantra “never give up”—something she once told her girls when they tried to quit piano and cross country. As she learned over time, “unless it’s a game of solitaire, it will be more complicated than that.”
What’s consuming your time and energy? Maybe you can make room for better.
