🐾 Today’s tip: Use the “two beers and puppy” test to reveal how you truly feel about someone.

As Forge executive editor Ross McCammon explains in his book Works Well With Others, you can better understand your relationship with anyone in your life by asking yourself two questions:

  1. Would you want to have two beers with this person?
  2. Would you trust them to look after your puppy over a weekend?

Prioritize the people who pass both questions — the ones whose company you enjoy, and who you know you can rely on when you need to. “Hopefully, the test will reveal that you’re surrounded by lots of people who you’d like to have an aimless hour-long conversation with and who you’d trust to take care of something you really care about,” McCammon writes on Forge. “It’s a step toward increasing the number of people in your life and work who you like and trust.”
