Earlier this week, Forge dropped How Google Drive Can Make Every Corner of Your Life Easier, a new project all about the many (many, many) ways to use it as the ultimate self-improvement tool. Through this weekend, we’re using this space to highlight a few of our favorite Drive tips.

🎁 Today’s tip is a tool to help you nail the right present for every occasion: the gift planner spreadsheet.

How it works:
Set up a spreadsheet with the names and birthdays (and graduations, and anniversaries) of the most important people in your life. When you spot something that you think would be a great gift for someone you love, jot the idea down in a column next to their name. Then set up calendar alerts a few weeks before the relevant date, and when the time comes, all you have to do is pop into your gift planner to see the ideas you’d already marked down.

Why do it?
You mean, why save yourself the angst of remembering a birthday two days beforehand and then spending way too long scouring the internet for something that will ship in time? You’re planning gifts for other people, but this system is also a gift to your future self.

Not into it? Don’t worry — there are dozens more where this came from. Explore our Guide to Google Drive now, and check tomorrow’s Daily Tip for more of our favorites from the project!
