One way to add bursts of joy to your calendar

🥳 Tip: Celebrate made-up holidays.

It’s been a rough year, and what we’ve learned is that there’s simply no time to keep following the same ol’ boring rules. We need joy. We need spontaneous cheer. We need … some totally made-up holidays. In a delightful story on Human Parts, Sophie Lucido Johnson makes the case for celebrating things that other people don’t celebrate. For example, you might want to have a birthday party for a plant, or host a “try something you always wanted to try” day, or show off your snazziest looks at Grownup Prom. Think about what sounds fun and turn it into an official event. As Johnson explains, made-up holidays are “cheaper and quicker than vacations” and when you fill your calendar with them, you’ll have so many things to look forward to.
