Morning Routines are Overrated. Follow Salvador Dali’s Advice Instead.
3 things to pay attention to
I’ve read hundreds of articles about what successful people do when they get up each day. I tried to optimize my mornings, over and over again.
Should I take my coffee first or have a cold shower? Is it better to slurp down a smoothie or eat a full breakfast?
Messing around like that was fun, in a way. But I was never fully satisfied. Somehow, the day still ended way too soon and I didn’t get things done the way I wanted to. I just couldn’t unlock the secret of being super-productive and perfectly focused at all times.
Then the pandemic happened.
My carefully crafted (if eclectic) morning routine fell apart. The kids were stuck indoors, bored without school, and their sleeping patterns were all over the place. I didn’t have time to myself in the mornings, not the way I used to. There was very little space to just think.
In the chaos, I realized I needed a shift in priorities. And I stumbled across the perfect quote at the perfect time.
“Each morning when I awake, I experience again a supreme pleasure — that of being Salvador Dalí. ” — Salvador Dali
