📝 Today’s tip: Catalog moments when you’re alone and happy.

When was the last time you enjoyed your own company?

For anyone quarantining with other humans — a roommate, a partner, kids — solitude can seem like a relic from another time. Over the past several months, as Alli Kosik notes, plenty of people have forgotten how to take pleasure in doing things alone.

Kosik’s solution: “Next time you’re alone — even if it’s just for a few minutes as you take a shower or step out for some fresh air — make a mental note about how it made you feel, and jot it down on your phone or a piece of paper when you can,” she writes. “Look for patterns and small details.”

Energized by singing in the shower? Bring headphones with you on solo errands. Love the stillness of your early-morning coffee? Wake up a little earlier to revel in it longer. Keeping track of those realizations will help you rediscover not only what you like about those moments, but what you like about yourself when you’re in them.
