✅ Today’s tip: You don’t need to give details when you ask for a mental health day.

Today is both an end and a beginning, but that doesn’t mean the stress of the past week/month/year is going anywhere. If you’ve been feeling extra drained lately, know that requesting a mental health day to recharge can be as simple as saying it out loud: I’m taking a mental health day.

“No one is entitled to nitty-gritty details if you don’t want to share them,” Deanna Pai writes. “There’s no need to be dramatic about how dire the situation is to justify the day off.” (One caveat: If your workplace isn’t understanding about the importance of mental health, take a sick day.) She suggests giving your team some advance notice if possible, and arranging a work plan so no one’s left in the lurch.
