Today’s tip: To find your ideal pace, focus on what doing nothing feels like.

One of the unfortunate side effects of our current interest in (obsession with?) productivity is a lack of appreciation for idleness and true downtime. It helps to get back in touch with what doing nothing feels like. Use this tip from the psychologist Maya Altman: “Pay attention to how you’re feeling in those moments when you pause — do you find that you are ready to get up and continue, or do you notice that you really need to slow down more?”

Try it, and then head here for more advice on slowing down in a healthy (and, dare we say, productive) way.
