An end-of-day habit to snap you out of work mode

💻 Today’s tip: After work, put your computer on the highest shelf in your home.

When your home is also where you do your job, it can be too easy to let work bleed into all hours of the day. To draw a clear line between your time on and off the clock, Michael Thompson recommends creating a quick after-work ritual. His involves putting his computer in the trunk of his car — inspired, Thompson notes, by the writer Tim Urban, who places his phone on a high shelf when he needs to focus — but you can get a similar “out of sight, out of mind” effect by leaving the tools of your workday wherever they’re most out of reach.

We’ve all heard about the importance of a morning ritual before work, but “priming ourselves to play is just as important as priming ourselves to work,” he writes.
