The Advent Calendars I Desperately Need This Holiday Season
Because 25 tiny bars of soap do not make my spirits bright
As much as I love sweet bath products and little bottles of booze, most advent calendars fail to excite me. In order to really enjoy the holiday season, I need one that will actually improve my life. Here are some options.
The compliment advent calendar
Perhaps it’s the combination of feeling like I don’t have enough money for gifts and the end-of-the-year “What have I done with my life?” blues, but I find that December can be a pretty depressing month. I could use a pick-me-up, something to remind me that I’m awesome for 25 days straight. Don’t worry about the last week of the month — I’ll figure something out because that’s what an awesome person would do.
The excuse advent calendar
The holidays are known for merrymaking and parties. For an introvert like me, this can be a very difficult time. I only have so many socially acceptable excuses that I can use to avoid such shindigs. With this advent calendar, I will be given a unique, but plausible, excuse each day leading up to the 25th. For example: “Oh, sorry Jamie, I can’t go to your Hanukkah party.
