A way to set boundaries when you’re overwhelmed

📱 Today’s tip: Set an auto-responder for texts when you just can’t deal.

For an example of how intent and impact can diverge, look no further than the well-meaning “how are you” text. When you’re dealing with ongoing stress, as Tasmiha Khan explains, “it can be truly draining to always have to respond right away, especially with a million other things at home and on the news fighting for your attention.”

Khan suggests setting up an automatic reply on your phone for times when you need to unplug (there are apps that can do it for you, or iPhone users can adjust their settings). The other person knows you’re not ghosting them, and you can wait to reply when you’re in a better frame of mind.
