The omicron variant has arrived. Is anyone else feeling misplaced anger at the Greeks? The news is just another reminder that the minefield-laden road to normalcy just took another detour.
How do we fight our way through it this time?
We need to choose the same path we should have taken two years ago: assume this is the new way of life, no more sitting tight waiting for the other side — this is the other side. So, let’s dust off all those dreams and plans we put on hold and reintroduce them in a way that makes sense in today’s world.
Sure, we might face some additional dark times, but I’m a hopeful optimist. The pandemic has upended our lives and caused sorrow and pain for many of us. Still, there have been bright spots along the way: advances in technology and medicine spurred by the pandemic, a tight job market giving more power to workers, and a transition to working from home for cubicle junkies, freeing up time for family and other pursuits.
But it’s still tough out there, and we can’t adapt to our new world merely by being hopeful or screaming affirmations in front of a mirror. We need to tweak…
